EXCLUSIVE: Mad Men star Jon Hamm is in talks to costar in science fiction dramedy Marjorie Prime, an adaptation of the 2015 pulitzer prize finalist for drama by Jordan Harrison. The story delves into themes of accepting loss and growing older, following an elderly, arthritic former violinist named Marjorie, staring headlong into the decline of old age as her memories begin to fail her. Availing herself of a service that provides holographic recreations of deceased loved ones as their survivors would like them remembered, Marjorie spends her time with her daughter and son in law, and with an imperfect copy of her deceased husband, Walter, as he looked in his 30s and 40s.
Hamm is circling the role of Walter, and talks are ongoing. Michael Almereyda(Experimenter) wrote and will direct the adaptation. Marjorie Prime is being produced by Uri Singer of BB Film Productions. Production is planned to begin in October.
Hamm recently wrapped up the final season of AMC’s Mad Men, for which he’s nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in the 2015 Emmys. He’s recently appeared in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp, Minions, and will soon be seen in Keeping Up With The Joneses. He’s repped by CAA, Forward Entertainment, and Wolf-Kasteler.
